Small business are our community backbone. They grow and strengthen our economy by providing local jobs and services. When they thrive so do local residents. Currently there are too many laws and regulations that prohibit growth. To be a business owner, being your own BOSS, making a living at what you enjoy and providing for your family was once the American Dream. Sadly, due to unfair regulations, the American Dream is slowly dying.
"I will fight for and introduce legislation to help small businesses thrive - keeping the American Dream alive thereby reducing the tax burden on Cranston tax payers."
--- Deborah Leong
Who knows your children better than you? So why are your rights as a parent being taking away from you? Parents are the first and continuing influencers and teachers of their children. This is where they learn to communicate, eat, play, social interaction, proper etiquette, right from wrong. It has been this way for centuries - producing geniuses, leaders, artists, innovators, presidents, CEOs, etc. What your children learn and how they turn out is your responsibility. Not someone else! They are not part of your child's life for ever. You are!
Why can't our children read and write and do basic math? As a world leader, we are falling behind other countries in our ability to function in daily lives. Through education, we produce future community and world leaders. How can we do this if our children cannot carryout basic communication and calculating skills? It is our school's responsibility and our tax payer money that is suppose to provide and enable our children to do this. A generation of children cannot read nor write cursive. That means they cannot read our Constitution, our Declaration of Independence ... They have to depend on others to translate. Have we not seen third world countries use this tact to control the population? Are we heading in that direction?
Qualified school nurses are a necessity for the health and well being of students and faculty members. There are no shortcuts . Today, students are faced with various medical issues that require attention that do not come as common sense to teachers and school staff. Nursing student, new grad or med tech cannot substitute for a well trained experienced nurse. If a student is having medical issues, the school nurse must be able to apply medical treatment and make the right call for medical help where needed wheather it be emotional response to medication interactions, diabetic pump, etc. Schools cutting back on budget are not taking this into consideration. You cannot skimp on a person's well being.
